Meydan Racecourse and Grandstand is the vision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Ruler of Dubai, and its mission is to lead the international sport of thoroughbred racing into the new millennium. Meydan is masterplanned and completed by Teo A. Khing Design Consultants in a staggering 924 days to meet a deadline of readiness ahead of the 2010 Dubai World Cup. In its scale and complexity, Meydan is incomparable to any racecourse that preceded it. Its grandstand is a mile (1500m or equal to 22 Boeing 747s end to end) long and encompasses a six star hotel, royal enclosure, extensive hospitality spaces, restaurants, private suites and more. The racecourse, training tracks and two quarantine centres set new standards of excellence and position the Dubai Racing Club's feature carnival as a 'destination'. Meydan quickly becomes the most culturally diverse horse racing carnival in the world.
