The first stage of the Pearl of the Caribbean integrated development is launched in Saint Lucia on National Day (13th December 2019). The 'nation building project' is greeted with widespread support locally and internationally. The Pearl of the Caribbean launches with a two day programme that includes the maiden horse racing programme for the Royal Saint Lucia Turf Club (RSLTC). The race meeting on National Day is called the CECF Saint Lucia and its feature race, the Pitons Cup, is the richest race run in the Caribbean in 2019 and attracts participation from owners around the world. The CECF Saint Lucia is watched live by more than 500,000 viewers from 26 countries.
