Miri Resort City is the first major waterfront masterplan prepared by Teo A. Khing Design Consultants. Based in the home town of the company's Chairman, Teo Ah Khing, the masterplan was founded on the principles of environmental protection, cultural enhancement and economic development through land reclamation, creation of waterfront leisure areas and improving land values through economic activity. Miri Resort City was supportive of the development of Miri as the north-eastern gateway for Sarawak.

Samling Headquarters interior was the first project undertaken by the newly formed Teo A. Khing Design Consultants and, as such, holds resonance to this day. As an interior design project, it represents a symbolic need to understand deeply the relationship between space and individuals on a more intimate level, as a primordial task into the architectural profession. The design process of creating spaces that are responsive to the needs of an individual became the template to be carried over into future projects.

Teo A. Khing Design Consultants (TAK) was born in 1993 with the establisment of an office in Singapore. In time, the the company grows to a scale of more than 500 staff members and its achievements lead to the creation of a portfolio of peer companies that will operate under the banner of 'TAK Group of Companies'. This was a time of immense global change and upheaval. The United States welcomed its 42nd President to the White House.
